Mr Potatohead

This camera is a homage to the classic toy in using numerous accessories to reconfigure the personality of the basic housing. This idea developed into the later Threaded Case design and features four threaded sockets that allow for the attachment of threaded accessories that in this case are a battery holder cage and wedged foot (affording usage as door wedge). The camera unit itself mounted in a removable periscope that can be swapped for a regular lens hood. More accessories can be found here.

We have printed this design on a Stratasys Dimension Elite 3D printer, which is able to construct the screw threads of the sockets using soluble support material. This design has not been tested on a single material machine such as a Ultimaker 2.
